FAQ

Where can I find the syllabus?

Please submit the application form, and in the "Comments and/or Questions" section, state that you would like access to the syllabus, and the program director will send it to you.

What completion documentation will be provided?

Upon completion of the program, students will produce a thesis-style research paper suitable for submission as a writing sample in college applications. Students may request letters of recommendation from the program instructor, receive a certificate of program completion, and, in the Advanced Track, earn a conference completion certificate recognizing their formal research presentation.

Students should expect to commit approximately 2–3 hours per week to the program. This includes a 60-minute live lecture and a 45-minute applied lab session. In weeks with assigned homework, students should plan for an additional hour of independent work. During heavier assignment weeks, lab sessions will be optional to give students more time to focus on completing their homework.

The Granderson Research Academy recognizes the demanding schedules of high school students. While live attendance at lectures and labs is strongly encouraged, all sessions are recorded and made available for asynchronous viewing for students who are unable to attend in real time.

How do the Individualized Mentorship Sessions work?

Students enrolled in the Advanced Track receive individualized mentorship, including the opportunity to attend one-on-one meetings with the instructor. These sessions are designed to provide personalized guidance, answer questions, and offer detailed feedback and edits on the student's work. At the start of the course, the instructor and student will establish a mutually agreed-upon weekly meeting time for these sessions.

How much time should students expect to commit each week?
